This subject has come up a lot lately.  The Big10+2 Commissioner even came out in favor of paying their athletes.  With the ridiculous amounts of money being made by schools in revenue sports, is it time for the players to get a cut?

The argument for the status quo is that their education is their payment, but that's technically not a payment.  It's a HUGE benefit, but it's not a payment.

Over at Along the Olentangy, one of the writers has come up with a couple of really well researched and thought out stories on the idea, and puts forth some interesting solutions.  I wanted to see what folks here thought, and see if we could generate some discussion.
