WSU Vs. Cal Women's Basketball Second Half Game Thread
The WSU women's basketball team is currently in a close game with Cal. It turns out the Cal athletics website streams women's sports for free so join us for an in-progress game thread. As I write this, WSU trails Cal 37-32 with just over 14 minutes remaining.
You can find the streaming video here. My video did not come with audio, but you can stream audio here and it is in sync with the video.
Go Cougs.

NFC championship, Chip Kelly possibly headed to the NFL
I think I may be alone in this gamethread.

I'm torn.
I want him to go so Oregon can be in some sort of disarray, but I want him to stay because nothing is more hilarious than a nobody source breaking a story and it not being true.

I want him to stay
But I couldn’t tell you why. Maybe I just like college coaches staying in college.
I know it goes against everything that is American
but I love dynasties.

The Pac-12 is becoming a pipeline for NFL coaches.
Carroll then Harbaugh, not possibly Kelly.
by Mark Sandritter on Jan 22, 2012 5:17 PM PST up reply actions
Sort of. Carroll was a NFL coach before he was a college HC.

These teams are not good at shooting free throws.
10th and 12th in the Pac-12, combined 9 of 20 today. Yikes.

Well I have a class with Marquess Wilson.

Upong further consideration I'm a big fan of the gray jerseys.
I think we should rock the gray jerseys for homes games in bball and away in football…They don’t look good against white for others teams. Otherwise, I’m all for them.
And how can Cal stream their games for free but we can barely stream them for money?
I love how ESPN always uses stock footage of that game

Away jerseys have to be white, IIRC.

Would just like to point out
the fact that there’s a bunch of us in a thread about Cougar Women’s Basketball is a testament to how the program has turned around.
I'm also watching this because I don't care who wins the Niners/Giants game.
I hate both teams.

I just tuned in
because I was surfing the interwebs while watching the SF/NY game. But you sir need to care.
NY vs NE Superbowl would make the media blitz brutal. I mean more brutal than a typical Superbowl.
Stop hating KYLE. Go niners

I want the Pats to crush whomever they play.
So it’s kind of irrelevant for me

Noyes is a 33 percent free throw shooter.
Wow.

...How?
Honestly how is that even possible?

Ask Chris Dudley
I’m sure he knows.

Are the Pac-12 women's refs like the mens?
See that Cal is way behind on the fouls now trying to make up for it in the last 2 minutes?
Yes

I've been watching women's basketball non-stop for 3 years
The women’s refs are worse.

I missed the new NCAA rule where WSU basketball teams are not allowed to get defensive rebounds.

If it makes you feel better, Cal is the 2nd best rebounding team in the country.

I know Women's Coaches wear different clothing
but Cal’s coach looks like she works the Women’s Shoe section at Fred Meyer.

Cal executed a shot before :35

58-55 Cal
WSU just missed a 3 and fouled Cal.

I think they are 0-4 when we do some kind of game thread.
We should probably stop doing these.

I'll say it!
If I see a hot girl, I’ll duly note that. BTW, I could see this game in Lubbock, TX. Shame Cal won, I was rooting for your Lady Cougs to pull it out. Hope they recover and make the post-season.
Any football recruits?
This weekend is so far an EPIC failure given that its 5:40 and our class hasn’t jumped 15 spots.
I don't expect any of them to commit anytime soon.
If one does, it’ll be a 2 star guy, not Lawler or Dozier. We’ll have to wait for later in the week (Thu/Fri) or until Signing Day
by Kyle Rancourt on Jan 22, 2012 5:43 PM PST up reply actions
We're not paying Leach 2mil to recruit 2* star players!!!
In all seriousness, I want Eldrenkamp and Dozier in the worst way. Well mostly because they seem really good and uw wants them bad. It’d be huge to get them over the mountains.
Dozier is most likely going elsewhere
I’d say Eldrenkamp is like 60/40 UW. I wouldn’t be shocked if he came to WSU, but I think UW has a slight edge
by Kyle Rancourt on Jan 22, 2012 6:19 PM PST up reply actions
Well, one can hope.
Sounds like we have a good shot at Lawler.
Anyone else seen his parents consulting facebook page? Pretty weird, they have polls asking where he should go, and were arguing with an OSU fan about why they thought WSU was better for him. At least we got the parents on our side!
Speaking of, I've never really followed signing day closely.
Is it all a big flurry first thing that morning or do some guys drag it out until afternoon or later?
Mostly in the morning.

FootballScoop reporting Kelly to Bucs is a done deal
Leach is already scaring away other Pac-12 coaches
I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum.
Wow, right before Signing Day?
I know there’s never a good time for coaches to leave but right before Feb. 1 seems like it would hurt more.
The only way this could get even better
New Oregon head coach: Justin Wilcox. Sure it won’t happen, but it would…be…awesome.
I can just see it now: “With the fifth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select, Darron Thomas, quarterback, University of Oregon.”
I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of bubble gum.
Wow, that situation would be hilarious.
Especially if Wilcox too Lupoi with him.

I hear Nick Holt is available in that case.

I went over to ATQ to watch the meltdown and a Wilcox poach is high on their list.
Amazing the depth of UW dislike over there.
