Chip Kelly to the Bucs? Looking like it. I guess not. Wait maybe. Nope.
Not sure if this is true, but it could be huge.

His offense
in the NFL? I kinda would love to see that
@korbm13
Chip saw how awesome it was to be a pirate.
Decided to become a Buc! Good news if he leaves as long Oregon doesn’t go get Peterson.

Oregon will get whatever replacement they want. It’s a good thing this didn’t happen awhile ago because they could have gotten any coach looking for a job this year.

Disagree with this.
I seriously doubt Peterson will go, he finally got himself to the Big East, has a great thing going. Patterson at TCU just got them in the Big 12, why leave? I mention these because these were the 2 leading candidates I saw on Twitter.
Their football and bball programs are clearly not on the same level but Altman was about the 100th choice even after allegedly offering many guys 3-4 mil/year.
On the other hand there are plenty of guys who will jump at this in a heartbeat.
Peterson and Patterson
Peterson might think he’s at the end of an era at BSU right now. The cupboard is loaded so he won’t look like such a douche. He was also an assistant at Oregon for 5 years. Also the move to the Big East kinda sucks for him. Tons of flying to the east coast from Boise would suck big time.
Patterson I don’t know as much about. But with the talent at Oregon is really good, maybe good enough to lure someone who nobody would think would go.

I'm not sure Peterson will ever leave BSU, to be honest.

The meltdown at ATQ seems to suggest that NCAA sanctions are coming?
If true, I surely wouldn’t expect him to take that job, ties to the Boise community, etc. aside.
It's not just Oregon.
I honestly don’t see him leaving for any job anywhere. Why leave when he’s getting paid fairly well and is the King of Boise? It’s also why Mark Few will never leave Gonzaga.

I agree,
and I hope he never does. In the land of coaching carousels, I love a coach that isn’t always looking for the bigger better thing.
The Sandusky crap aside, the JoePa type of legacy of building roots and sticking is a beautiful thing.

I think this is a huge risk for Tampa.
Never seen anything like his offense in the NFL.

So a lot of us seem to be occupied
With what he’ll do as coach down in Tampa. but what about our game with oregon come football season. we all know we’ll still be underdogs with a good fight for the upset on our hands, but from a fan standpoint of view, does not playing against kelly’s ducks lessen just a tad of how fired up we’ll be to get after them?
They still have talent
Lots of it. LMJ, DT and Kelly leaving does weaken them quite a bit though…
Honestly I wouldn’t mind a down Oregon next year. Stanford won’t be as good either. Makes my otherwise absurd hope of just maybe winning the Pac-12 North a little closer to reality.

The pirate and company
Do have the potential to surprise people and be better than expected. there’s no question we’re not just gonna sit down and settle for just a bowl. we’re gonna fight for it, and that game with oregon along with road contest at stanford is gonna the games this team will determine how much sword swingin they wanna do
Oregon hires Wilcox, he brings Lupoi and Sirmon with him.
Then we and Cal fans unite to watch one of the greatest virtual meltdowns of all-time.

It sounds like a sure thing, but knowing the teams I root for and their luck, I would not be surprised if he came back.
Quick Leach!
The vultures will start circling soon, who can we poach?!
Seriously, talk about a golden opportunity to snag some star recruits. Who knows, we may even see another June Jones feasko even if Kelly doesn’t leave!
U MAD OU?!
Yeah, no.
This helps UW a lot more than us. Also helps USC, UCLA, Stanford.
by Kyle Rancourt on Jan 23, 2012 12:04 AM PST up reply actions
Ok, granted (I was kind of joking anyway)
But if a recruit was looking forward to playing in a fast paced offense and was conserned about the future of the Oregon program, why wouldn’t he at least hear Leach out? USC I understand, maybe UW, but Stanford runs a completely different system and UCLA is still kind of a stinker until Mora can prove otherwise.
These are 17 year olds were talking about, anything can happen.
"UCLA is still kind of a stinker until Mora can prove otherwise."
UCLA just played in the Pac12 Championship and in a bowl game and is located in Los Angeles, California. But you think WSU looks better to a 17 year old?
Oregon runs a different offense than Leach. He also uses RBs a lot. We don’t. If you look at Oregon’s class this year, they have a couple of TEs, a couple of RBs, a couple of QBs, and a bunch of DEs. None of those guys fit at WSU.
Also, it helps UW more because there are more guys deciding between Oregon & UW than Oregon & WSU. In fact, almost none of their recruits had even considered WSU. So that’s why USC, Stanford, UW, etc are better off. You can’t say Stanford runs a completely different system and pretend that WSU doesn’t as well.
by Kyle Rancourt on Jan 23, 2012 1:49 AM PST up reply actions
WSU can always use DEs
And the only reason UCLA played in the Pac 12 title game is because their big bro was on probation. And they still fired their coach.
UCLA hasn’t been relevant in football since the late 90s. So yes, they are a clunker unless Mora can prove otherwise.
(This does not mean that WSU is a more attractive destination though)

All that is fine
I don’t disagree with that. I wasn’t trying to say UCLA is going to be powers or anything. I was simply stating, from a non-biased outsiders perspective, how can anyone honestly think WSU is a more attractive destination than UCLA?

Ha, god.
The entire reaction thread over at ATQ is green. This sitll sort of begs the question with how close this supposedly came to becoming reality, how much longer does Chip stay?
Until he needs to jump Chip.
