DT Robert Barber Just Committed... Last 4 commits of Samoan descent?
Niu Sale is of Samoan descent and I think Ioane Gauta is too, at least his last name is.
Joe Salave'a is already paying big dividends.
I am not worried about the last 2 commits's star ratings because I highly doubt scouts are traveling all the way to the Islands to look at them and they don't have much film, plus I'd assume they are both pretty raw.

The youtubes
shows some good footage (although very limited) on Barber…
I am a junior, but I am so excited for football season, I bought season tickets for my gf and I! CANNOT WAIT!
It looks like Desting Vaeao has the nickname "Toa"
I wonder if that will stick here. I haven’t found much about Barber, but I know I at least like his size.
Around these parts, a man could get hurt for wearing purple.

Just the rough take
I see a player who engages blockers with a ton of energy. The CF.C article quoted a guy saying he has a great pad level at the snap and I think he is dead on. You notice his size, but once he starts moving you think there is no way this guy is pushing 300lbs.
I like how he plays through blockers rather than trying to disengage or go around them. A good number of tackles can be made by pushing offensive linemen into running lanes, something Mr. Barber excells at. Obviously the athletic ability is there and I find these kind of players especially intriguing when on the D-line. Athletes that can play in the secondary or linebacker are pretty common, but players like Barber and Vaeao are quite a bit harder to find.
Kid has a long ways to go when it comes to technique. From the limited footage you can get a sense that his footwork is erratic, especially off the snap where he kind of stutter-steps a bit as he’s about to take on blockers. His tackling appears to be a mixture of pure force and a whole lot of grabbing anything he can get his hands on, rather then wrapping up and letting his weight do the work.
All in all, interesting get, and for how late in the recruitment period we are, I really like how our defensive front is shaping up for years to come.
Thizz or die.
Really liked this take.
The hardest part of evaluating is projecting the player in three or four years. No one expects this guy to play from Day 1 and be a monster. I think he’s super raw and has a long ways to go, but I am intrigued. Do I love the pick up? Not really. But it’s not like I’m pissed we brought him in. I think it’s late in the game, we don’t have many spots left, and hey, why not? I’d rather take a chance on a kid like this than a 180 pound LB.

Future Samoan Players
Having a coach from the island is a good advantage in recruiting.
Having a coach and 4 players from the island is a huge advantage for future recruits.
Can’t Wait (Bart Scott voice)!!!
