WSU Football Recruiting: Jeremiah Allison, LB From California, Commits To Cougs
According to Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times, Dorsey HS LB/DE Jeremiah Allison has gone crimson. Allison was part of the huge recruiting weekend a few weeks ago, and the total number of guys who have committed since now stands at six. SIX! That's huge. The only player we missed out on that weekend was Jake Eldrenkamp. Allison joins Gabe Marks, Robert Lewis, Kache Palacio, Destiny Vaeao, and Niu Sale as future Cougs who all took their official visits at that time. I'd say that was one great weekend.
I really like his speed rush, and although his size will prevent him from being an every down DE (he's listed at 6'1, 210), I think his skill set is perfect for the OLB/rush end in Mike Breske's 3-4. While I'm in favor of redshirting him so he can hit the weights and get prepared for the size of the Pac 12 players, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him used sparingly in 2012. I think he can become a Special Teams ace sooner than later, and while I don't expect him to be the next Mkristo Bruce, I do think he'll wind up being one of those guys we really hate to see graduate.
Allison is lights out in the classroom, as well. With offers from Duke and Yale, we won't have to worry about him from an academic standpoint. That's always a great thing. I also think he's just a great kid to root for. Watch this video and tell me you don't already love him:
"Allison, who has never received a grade other than A in high school, said he likes the new coaching staff at Washington State." Um. Heart.
I love college football. Guys like Allison are a big reason why. I'm not drooling over his tape because I think he'll be Shawne Merriman or Lawrence Taylor. I'm super excited because this is a kid who can help this team get better, and is a solid human being who deserves praise. Really like this pick up by Leach & Co.
He was mulling offers from Arizona, Boise State, SMU, and UCLA, amongst others. Take THAT, Mora.

yeah, I saw a bunch of recs
and thought I could jump on the rec-train but failed… probably like my reply fail comment below…
Btw, you need to make a
“how we viewed the recruitment process in gif form” from Leach’s hire to tomorrow…

This guy is my favorite commit of the class
Simply because of the person he is. It’s refreshing when you get athletes like this.

I second this
Kyle was right, how do you not love this kid after watching that video, he has a great head on his shoulders.
This kid is guaranteed All PAC12
at least academically.
Around these parts, a man could get hurt for wearing purple.
Looks like a good kid
and a potential leader, maybe he will follow the lead of RG3.
1 to go?
So Scout.com has the Cougs with 24 commits. I believe 25 is the max per year, so that leaves us with one spot available.. I’m sure were all hoping for Dozier. Does Dockery count for last years class? Do other guys enrolling early count for last years class?

Dockery counts for last years class

There is no max per year.
25 is generally a full class, though. With greyshirts, you can bring in a few more. I’d say we’re pretty close to being done, though. If Lawler and Dozier both commit, we’ll find spots for them. I’d guess that guys like Salmonson, Villarubia, and Tuivaiave, are all candidates to greyshirt.

I thought you could only give out 25 scholarships per class?

Sorry I was unclear.
I read it as “I thought we could only bring in 25 guys a year” and that is not true. You can bring in as many as you want (hey there Houston Nutt!) but you can only hand out 25 scholarships per year. The greyshirting route gives you the flexibility to bring in more than 25 players per year, though.

Guys enrolled at semester can count towards either last year (assuming there are spots) or this season.
The staff can also oversign then grayshirt some.

Thanks guys
I probably ask that question at this time every year.

No problem.
The NCAA is confusing. I have to double check on a lot of things.

Caldwell and Bowlin
Can we count these two JCs towards last year’s class as well, as we have done with Dotson?

Caldwell
isn’t a JC, he sat out a year after HS. And yes, if my math is correct, they both can count towards last year.

So here is my question
Does anybody know somewhere to donate pants to? Pretty sure I won’t be needing any anytime soon. This kid looks really good. I have no problem seeing him in the LB rotation.

This kid
Will be our team captain in a couple seasons. I am really excited to watch him develop at WSU.
Great read! Love this:
“I wanted to be the first football player to be in the band, but to get out of my pads at halftime might be too tough,” he says.

Team mates
Unless I’m mistaken this guy had a team mate at Dorsey named Jaydon Mikens, now that would make a nice finish to this recruiting class. Although I heard Mikens is leaning towards O.K. State.
No way Mickens comes here.
He’s picking between Oklahoma State and UW.

Guess we should root for Oklahoma State
The thought of Jaydon Mickens vs. Tyree Toomer is terrifying.

What a chance for these kids to leave a hell hole and come to the relative safety of the Palouse. My faith and trust are in Moos, Coach Leach and his staff to continue the family style care for these kids and their families. Seems to me that WSU might be the first real home many of these great student athletes have ever known. Time to shine Coug nation!

This is a very nice pick up
Allison, Pettway and Palacio are terrific LB pulls from down here in the socal area. Pettway is really skinny right now and appears to be a RS candidate, Palacio is already thick looking and Gardena is in a good HS league. Explosive off the ball and good tackler. Allison’s league is rugged and those guys are notoriously fast team to team. Many of the OL’s he faced are Div. I headed guys… the fact that he is a model student and citizen is of course the cherry on top. Not dis’n Tuivaiave, but he is Tacoma and I have never seen him in action.
If you can't Go Cougs... don't go.
