Elson Floyd asks WSU, Pac-12 to investigate Marquess Wilson's allegations

James Snook-US PRESSWIRE

WSU president Elson Floyd has asked Bill Moos and the Pac-12 to investigate Marquess Wilson's allegations of abuse.

If Marquess Wilson or any other Washington State football player was abused by Mike Leach and the rest of the Cougars' coaching staff, we'll find out soon enough. Washington State University president Elson S. Floyd has requested two separate but concurrent investigations into the allegations -- one from the Pac-12 and the other from Bill Moos.

Floyd released a short statement on Sunday addressing Wilson's allegations.

After consultation with WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos, I have asked our athletic department to fully review recent allegations raised concerning the football program and report their findings and conclusions as soon as possible. Simultaneously, I have asked the Pac-12 to independently do the same. Together, both reports should get to the bottom of the matter.

So there you go. Two investigations that will run separately. I'm assuming both will interview players and coaches, as well as Wilson in an effort to get to the bottom of all of this.

What they'll find, nobody is quite sure. But this is the way to go, and Floyd is handling it as he should. There's no better way to handle the situation than immediately investigating it, and asking the Pac-12 to do the same. It takes care of allegations of a cover-up and should give us a clear picture of what's going on.
