The 2012 Apple Cup is underway and the Washington State defense is off to a quick start by forcing a three-and-out on Washington's first possession.
The Cougars didn't waste any time making an impact play as Ioane Guata tackled Washington wide receiver Cody Bruns on the first play for an 11-yard loss. Bruns took the ball on a reverse and appeared like he was trying to throw a pass before being taken down. The Huskies gained minimal yardage on the next two plays and punted the ball away to the Cougars.
The WSU offense, however, was unable to to capitalize as they failed to convert a fourth and one and gave the ball back to Washington. The Cougars started the drive with a six yard run, but Jeff Tuel scrambled on third down setting up a short fourth down situation. Tuel tried to find Isiah Myers, but the pass was batted down and the Huskies held.
