Marquess Wilson suspended after reportedly walking out of workout

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Marquess Wilson has been suspended from the WSU football team.

Washington State wide receiver Marquess Wilson has been suspended from the WSU football team, a spokesman told Christian Caple on Monday morning. Wilson reportedly walked away from a workout on Sunday, leaving his future with the team in question. In the hours that followed, rumors that he quit the team surfaced, though his status still remains unclear -- outside of the suspension.

This could mean a couple things: Wilson may have, in the heat of the moment, decided he'd had enough and quit; or he could've been disciplined for walking out and the whole quitting thing never happened; Or ... well, who knows at this point. All we know for sure is that Wilson is suspended and presumably not participating in team activities.

For what it's worth, we'd heard the same thing about Wilson quitting that Jim Moore had. That, however, doesn't mean it's necessarily permanent. Things do happen in the heat of the moment, and while Wilson may well have walked away from the workout and the team, it doesn't mean he's gone for good.

However, if he did walk out of a workout, there's a significant road back for him. Leach has been very vocal about players quitting, walking away, or not showing the mental makeup to give a full effort at all times. Wilson himself has been singled out for this. And Leach, in all likelihood, won't be so willing to welcome him back with hugs and open arms.

Back with more in a bit.
