Kenny Lawler Chooses Cal Over WSU
Washington State's recruitment of Kenny Lawler was a bit of a wild ride which ultimately ended this afternoon when Lawler chose the Cal Bears over WSU and Oregon State. If you are scoring at home, that is now two 4-star wide receivers who have chosen Cal over WSU in the last two days.
WSU started recruiting Lawler late, and initially he was a heavy Oregon State lean. After visiting Pullman, reports were Lawler was 50-50 between OSU and WSU. California offered a scholarship less than two weeks ago with Lawler going on his official visit to Berkeley on the final weekend. That late push was enough to sway Lawler away from the Northwest.
While it's nice to have a hat on the table as these top recruits decide, finishing second or third is not a trend we want to see continue. WSU did well at wide receiver in this class, but Lawler would have put the group over the top. Kyle mentioned in the chat he thought Lawler would have been the best player in the class.
WSU is still in the running for cornerbacks Alphonso Marsh and Raymond Ford, although neither are considered likely. Both players will be announcing at 5:30 p.m.

What stings about Lawler is that he can play the outside.
Most of the WRs in this class are inside guys.

I am upset about this AT ALL
We will no trouble landing receivers to this program in the coming year. Plus, I was not a big fan of his Twitter campaign.
Around these parts, a man could get hurt for wearing purple.
* Sorry I meant to say I was NOT upset about this.

I'm upset because we seemed to be THISCLOSE to both Dozier and Lawler
It really sucks that we ended up missing on both. I hate rumors. And Ruth, she’s an idiot.

Lawler is really, really good

To follow up on that
I am not very upset at all. This was the first year of Leach and look players that came into the conversation for a team that has won 9 games in four years. Let’s put in a couple 7-5 or 8-4 type seaons and see what we get then.

I think everyone figured Lawler to OSU
so that gives me hope for Ford and Marsh. Even though I still don’t think we land either. Bummer. Really would like Ford.
