I am six days older than Steve Gleason. His illness strikes me hard. I continue to pray for his recovery. No white flags. Go Cougs.

I went to junior high, high school, and WSU with Steve. He is one of the most genuine, most driven people I’ve ever met. Obviously, he was easily the best player on our HS football team. It breaks my heart to see what ALS does to him and others. Pretty cool that he went sky diving one year after his diagnosis. I’d expect nothing different from him.

He is truly an amazing individual. Got to admit, there was not one dry eye in my living room by the end of that video.

I couldn't help but shed a tear

listening to his wife talk about him losing his voice. What an emotional, inspirational and heartbreaking story. He is truly an amazing person.

Steve has the heart of a lion

I always marveled at the way Steve played at WSU. I was at the 98 Rose Bowl when he was hurt after laying himself out to make a big hit – it happened right in front of us. There was no bigger competitor on the field per oz. of being than Steve. It was so sad to see that happen to him in his last game in the uniform of our university.

The shock of a great man coming down with this insidious disease, even though we know about it, sears me to core every time I see what it is doing to him.

I think we all saw Drew Brees say, “I love you man” right to Steve after he broke Marino’s record. I also think we all join Drew in saying the same words to the Gleason family.
