Day one of the MLB draft is in the books with Mitch Gueller the only WSU affiliated player selected in the first 60 picks. Gueller, who signed with WSU in December, was picked by the Phillies with the No. 54 pick.
As to whether he will make it to Pullman, Gueller is either still weighing his options or already has a very good poker face on for negotiations.
Gueller said it's too early to decide whether to go pro or stick with his commitment to Washington State, where he signed a letter of intent last November.
"I love the guys at Wazzu," he said.
Day two of the draft begins at 9 a.m. PT today with rounds 2-15 scheduled. Taylor Ard and Derek Jones could both hear their named called on day two. Jones was selected by the Orioles in the 13th round last year. Ard was picked in the 25th round a year ago, but could have improved his stock with a strong junior season.
