WSU Soccer Makes Its Pac-12 Networks Debut (But Not On DirecTV, Of Course)

Stay connected for news and updates

Looking for a way to kill time before the Cougs kick off their football game against UNLV on ESPN at 6 p.m. PDT? Check out the WSU soccer team, which will make its 2012 television debut at 4 p.m. PDT on Pac-12 Networks against Hawaii. (Of course, those of us who have DirecTV are still in the dark thanks to a continuing impasse in negotiations.)

WSU is coming off its third NCAA appearance in four years, and the Cougs are off to a 5-1 start under first-year coach Keidane McAlpine, having allowed just two goals in their five wins. The lone loss was a 4-0 blowout at the hands of No. 2 Duke.

Although defense is definitely the calling card of these Cougs, led by goalkeeper Gurveen Claire, junior Micaela Castain leads the Pac-12 in goals (6), goals per game (1.2) and points per game (2.4).

The home match against the Wahine is the lone match at Lower Field in September for the Cougs, who will play their next five games on the road. However, it's not your last chance to see the team for a while if you're in Pullman -- WSU will be on TV again on Thursday at No. 3 UCLA.
