I thas been a great season for WSU soccer. They have won five in a row, finished second in the Pac-12 and will take on Illinois in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday. On top of all the team achievements, two Cougars have been honored with individual awards for their great season. Head coach Keidane McAlpine was named Pac-12 coach of the year while senior forward Micaela Castain was named Pac-12 player of the year.
Castain was named Pac-12 player of the week six times this season and set a WSU record with 11 assists. McAlpine, in his second season with WSU, led the Cougs to a second place finish and a 14-3-3 record this season after finishing 4th with a 12-6-2 record in 2012.
The game starts at 1 PM this Saturday at Lower Soccer Field. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for youths, students and seniors, but the first 500 students with a Cougar Card will get in free. WSU has posted all the info you need about the game here and CougCenter's intrepid non-revenue reporter (both because he reports on non-revenue sports and also because he doesn't get paid) Neil Roberts will cover all your soccer news all weekend long.
