Hot Cougar Action: The day after UCLA

Things got so bad for WSU on Sunday, Ben Howland had time to do the wave. - Stephen Dunn

The links are not pretty today after the Cougars' 76-62 loss to UCLA on Saturday.

Men's basketball

The Cougars lost 76-62 to UCLA on Saturday and were then treated to the following headline. The sad part is it's essentially true.

This wasn't the Washington Generals that UCLA faced Saturday night -- just Washington State.

The Cougars were a day at the spa for the Bruins, a chance to work out the kinks. The 76-62 victory over the hapless Cougars at Pauley Pavilion was the sorbet between heavy courses.

It's not like we aren't used to reading similar things, it's just usually they come on Sunday mornings following a WSU football game. That can't be a good sign for the basketball program.

The women's team will go for its fifth straight win on Sunday against UCLA. If the recent trend of the men's team loses and the women's team wins continues the Cougars should be in good shape.
