Hot Cougar Action: Marquess Wilson at the combine

James Snook-US PRESSWIRE

Marquess Wilson has kept a low profile since his departure from WSU, but he spoke to reporters on Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Football:

It's been a while since we've heard much from Marquess Wilson, but that changed some Friday when he spoke to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine. Wilson didn't go into specific detail when asked about his departure from WSU, but did touch on it briefly. Here are a couple of interesting notes from Danny O'Neil's story which can be found in the links below.

What will Wilson say when he's asked about Leach?

"I'm not going to bad-mouth him," Wilson said. "I'm past that. I'm beyond it. There's no reason for me to backtrack and bad-mouth him."

And nearly three months after leaving the team, Wilson said he doesn't regret his decision.

"Looking back at it, I wouldn't change my mind," he said. "I stuck with it, and I'll still stick with it. That's just the way I felt and the way I feel."

It doesn't sound as if the relationship has been healed as Wilson will not participate in WSU's pro day.

Yet it is Eastern Washington, and not the school he attended, where Wilson will work out for NFL scouts, holding his pro day in Cheney on March 6 in what is a geographic manifestation of the divorce from Washington State.

Men's basketball:

The men's basketball team has the opportunity to knock off No. 12 Arizona today. It may seem like a longshot, but I remember the Cougars pulling a similar stunner my freshman year. All we need is Royce Woolridge to pull a Thomas Kelati and we'll be fine.
