Hot Cougar Action: Klay Thompson goes off

Jeff Gross

Klay Thompson showed the world something WSU fans have known for years, he's really good.

Wednesday was a banner night for Klay Thompson as he scored 34 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in Golden State's win against San Antonio.

We saw Thompson go on hot streaks during his WSU career -- the Pac-12 Tournament comes to mind -- but the entire world watched as Thompson scored 29 first-half points and made 8-of-9 3-point attempts. He put on a few shooting exhibitions while at WSU, but Wednesday may have been the best yet. Then again, his three-point shooting against Baylor in Hawaii will always be tops on my list.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Klay Thompson scored 34 points, Stephen Curry added 22 and the Golden State Warriors withstood another furious rally by the San Antonio Spurs for a 100-91 victory Wednesday night to even their series at one game apiece and snap a 30-game skid in the Alamo City.

Worst moment that turned out OK: Motivation comes from all directions, but we'll let Washington State QB Connor Halliday describe how the Cougars turned a poor spring practice into a good one: "Coach [Mike] Leach was yelling at me that they were dropping balls and then the strength coach came up and said something to me. So it was boiling over and boiling over. This one kid had dropped like five balls. I kind of got in his face and he shoved me. So I took his helmet off and kind of started punching him. We had a great practice after that so it kind of did its job."

1. Better on the O-line: The Cougars surrendered 4.75 sacks per game last year, which ranked last in the nation.
