HCA: WSU a 'room service' opponent for Utah?

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

The Cougars are rebuilding, but are they still considered a push over for a mid-level Pac-12 opponent?

WSU hasn't been very good recently, I understand that. Yet, I was still surprised to read them labeled as a "room service" opponent for Utah. Utah?

The comment came from Gordon Monson of the Salt Lake Tribune as he was previewing Utah's schedule. Here is the full comment:

So, where are the wins? Last year, Utah lost to USU, ASU, USC, UCLA, OSU, UW, UofA and EIEIO. The Utes were 3-6 in conference and 5-7 overall.

If they get more than six wins this fall, it will surprise Old McDonald and anybody else who's been paying attention, and that includes the gift win from Weber State. Colorado and Washington State should be room service, too, but ... we know how that first one went against the Buffs at Rice-Eccles in 2011.

On one hand WSU lost to Utah 49-6 last season. On the other hand, Utah is far from a high-end Pac-12 team are aren't exactly in the position where any conference opponent is a gimme. Maybe I just need to layoff the crimson Kool-Aid.

WazzuWatch.com - Recruiting Outlook: DL
When Mike Leach hired defensive coordinator Mike Breske to command the defense, he took on a task of rebuilding a defense that was a severe liability. As we head into year two of the Leach era, the coaching staff has infused the defense with loads of young talent and one of the up-and-coming groups on defense is the defensive line.

WSU:

That is a lot of license plates.

Cheers: To Washington State University's crimson license plates. The Department of Licensing has sold 17,200 of the Cougar license plates, more than all the other collegiate plates combined, raising nearly $500,000 in scholarship money this year. Each license plate yields $28 per year for scholarships.
