The next big event on the NFL calendar is just around the corner and WSU's own Joe Dahl has been invited. Dahl will (likely) join a plethora of prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine Feb. 23-26.
The combine will mark another stop in an already busy offseason for Dahl. The second team all-american played in the Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game last month.
NFl.com profiles each of the players invited to the combine, and you can read analysis of Dahl here. Reports say that NFL teams are looking at Dahl as a guard, instead of the position he has started at the last two seasons. The Spokane native has been an anchor at left tackle for the Cougs but lacks the measurables to play there as a professional.
I wouldn't bet on Dahl improving his stock at the combine like Xavier Cooper did last year, but he will have a chance to sell himself to NFL scouts. He did miss four games with a foot injury in 2015 so I would expect he is eager to show that he's fully healed.
Dahl will have his measurements recorded Feb. 24, bench press the Feb. 25, and will have his on field workout Feb. 26. You can find the full combine schedule here.
Dahl is the only WSU player this year, a decrease from the three Cougs that went last season. It is disappointing to not see the likes of Dom Williams and Destiny Vaeao on the invite list this time. Their NFL dreams are not over, however, as they will still have a Pro Day to show scouts why they are worthy of playing at the next level.
