Mike Leach and Washington State will always heavily recruit the offensive line position, and this year was no different. Headlining this year's group of linemen is one of the top tackles in the West, who the Cougars landed over some stiff competition.
Keenen King, a three-star offensive lineman from Las Vegas, Nev., officially signed his letter of intent Wednesday, putting to rest any concerns over his commitment status after taking official visits to San Diego State and Colorado State this month.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 297 pounds, King was recruited by offensive line coach Clay McGuire, committed to Washington State in early November, then tripped to Pullman for an official visit in December. He picked the Cougars over offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Colorado State, Oregon State, San Diego State, UNLV and Utah State.
The Arbor View standout is highly ranked among players at his position. Scout ranks King the No. 10 offensive tackle prospect in the West and the No. 67 tackle in the country. The 24/7 Sports Composite ranks King the No. 4 overall prospect in Nevada.
Over the last two seasons, King has anchored an offensive line that has led Arbor View to consecutive 10-win seasons. King has the size to play either tackle or guard at the next level, though he'll more than likely have a redshirt year to get that sorted out.
Scouting Report
Good speed for a big man and is a run blocking machine. Operated in a Wing-T offense, so a good deal of his blocks were pulls and reaches. No real highlights of him in a straight drop-step, which he'll be doing on the majority of snaps in Pullman. Does show great athleticism for his size and should adapt well to pass pro footwork. Could see him playing guard, where he could use those pulling skills in the Coug Power run game, though the OL has proven to be pretty fluid.
