Washington State University has offered its men’s basketball coaching position to Portland State’s Ken Bone and is waiting for his decision, The Spokesman-Review has learned. Sources close to the situation said Bone, 50, has been the focus of the week-long search to replace Tony Bennett, who left after three years as WSU coach to take the same position at the University of Virginia.

So says Grippi. It would be a major upset at this point if Bone didn't take the job -- unlike a lot of other schools (looking at you, Arizona) this kind of stuff doesn't generally leak out of the WSU camp unless it's pretty close to a done deal. Cross your fingers.

So begins Jim Sterk's manifesto on the state of the coaching search. There's nothing really groundbreaking in there, although it seems the search may not move as fast as we all thought. He only commits to not wanting it to take more than two weeks.
