While many of you were probably watching football because you gave up on the Washington State men’s basketball team after the embarrassing loss to Stanford Thursday night, those same Cougars looked like a completely different team against the California Golden Bears on Saturday afternoon, in Berkley.
Even with the improved play and leading for the majority of the game, Washington State (9-8, 2-3) dropped its third straight game, as the Golden Bears (13-5, 4-2) escaped with a 58-54 win in front of their home crowd.
Some good news for the Cougs, however, was Malachi Flynn got back to doing Malachi Flynn things. After the true freshman looked like a true freshman against Stanford with his 0-for-9 shooting performance, Flynn led all scorers with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting, 4-for-8 from three.
The Cougs return home for their next slate of games, as the welcome Utah (12-5, 3-2) and Colorado (10-7, 0-4) to Beasley Coliseum.
