Dennis Simmons with the quote of the day

Dennis Simmons is the best - WSU Athletic Communications

Dennis Simmons has proven to be a good quote, but his best line may have come Thursday.

If you watch Dennis Simmons' mic'd up segment below, or have read any of his interviews, you probably know he tends to provide a lot of excellent insight.

He's also not bad at providing notable quotes. Christian Caple has a few quotes from Simmons in his post-practice blog post and this one was my favorite.

They're not going to lay down, they're going to come in here and expect to do what we expect to do each week - come in here and take someone's heart.

That is an interesting goal. Maybe he's just a really big Indiana Jones fan.

After snapping a few photos of the new additions to Martin Stadium — those will be up in a few minutes — we had a brief chat with outside receivers coach Dennis Simmons. Then we came home, typed words on a laptop, and now you are reading those words. There are more of them about footballs and football players after the jump.

Cougars expect T-birds to flex muscles - Spokesman.com - Sept. 12, 2013
You don’t have to look at Southern Utah’s football team to believe what coach Mike Leach has been saying for a couple days now. That’s because SUU coach Ed Lamb will put it in blunter terms.

Horton knew WSU was the place for him - Spokesman.com - Sept. 12, 2013

Team unit breakdown for Week 3 - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com News, Scores, Stats, Schedule and BCS Rankings
Washington State (vs. Southern Utah): While it may not be wise to lead off the wide-receiving units with a hunch, the Mike Leach air raid simply has to right its ship against Southern Utah. The Cougars have been a fantasy nightmare since Leach arrived, possessing countless talented receiving options, and marginal results. Quarterback Connor Halliday has 559 yards through two games, but just one touchdown and five interceptions. The thinking is that ratio is closer to even come Sunday morning.

The worst thing in the world would be an emotional letdown. Don’t see it happening. The offense gets back on track this week and the defense continues to improve in Year 2 under Mike Breske. The Air Raid should be in full effect this week. … Washington State 48, Southern Utah 10.

WSU News Center - WSU Cougar football comes home to a changing Martin Stadium

Combination of a couple things. Ever since the Apple Cup win to end last year, the WSU defensive has looked solid. Limiting big plays is the next big step.
