Tyler Bruggman finally faxes in letter of intent to Washington State

Russ Isabella-US PRESSWIRE

It wasn't without its tense moments today, but four-star quarterback Tyler Bruggman finally cemented his commitment as he faxed in his letter of intent on Wednesday.

There was word going around that Tyler Bruggman, a consensus 4-star recruit and the No. 22 ranked quarterback in the nation, might flip on his commitment and stay at home to play for hometown Arizona State. But after much hand wringing by the Cougar faithful, Bruggman finally has faxed in his letter of intent to Washington State on National Signing Day 2013.

Bruggman, who played at Brophy College Preparatory (Ariz.) chose WSU over Arizona State, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado State, Purdue, Michigan State and UCLA. The Sun Devils made a late push for him after their QB target, Joshua Dobbs, flipped to Tennessee today. Bruggman sort of disappeared off the grid for a while and all sorts of debate raged about whether he was reconsidering ASU, but ultimately, he decided to stick with Mike Leach.

Bruggman racked up offers from all over the country during his junior season. He took several unofficial visits, including to WSU, before verbally committing to the Cougars in June. He stayed solid in his commitment and took his only official visit to Washington State in October.

Bruggman (6'2, 202 lbs) threw for 2,803 yards last season, completing 57.5% of his attempts. He was named Arizona Republic Phoenix Metro Player of the year. He has been lauded by recruiting experts for his accuracy and decision making. With WSU Bruggman will join a depth chart that currently features just two scholarship quarterbacks.
