Congrats to Jim Moore

Well, it turns out the loudest and proudest Coug won't be unemployed after all.

Seattle P-I sports columnist Jim Moore is going to be joining Cougfan.com as a regular columnist starting March 30, and I couldn't be happier for the guy.

Jim and I developed a relationship a couple of years ago when he came and spoke at a student journalism conference where I was coordinating the presenters, and we've remained in touch ever since. He even gave a couple of shoutouts to my previous blog, WSU HOOPS, in a pair of columns last year. People often wonder if someone is as nice and down to earth as they appear; I can confirm that Jim is as advertised.

Like most other newspaper people -- and with the proper amount of angst befitting a Coug -- Moore was pretty nervous about what the future held. And while I'm positive this gig doesn't pay as well as his last one, at least he's got a job ... something a lot of former P-I employees won't get to say in the not-so-distant future.

Besides, now he can get back to doing what he does best: Being the Cougar homer that he so awesomely is. No more silly editors telling him he can't rip on Probation Nation.

Good on Moore and Cougfan for making this happen. I might just pony up for that Cougfan subscription yet.
