Thompson scores 10 as Team USA wins gold for first time since '91

Only a few minutes to write before heading off to church this morning, but I wanted to be sure and pass along that Team USA did indeed accomplish its goal and win gold with an 88-80 win over Greece. Klay Thompson scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in 25 minutes in the final.

"It was a physical, grind out game. We knew they were a physical team," Pitt guard Ashton Gibbs told USABasketball.com. "We played them once before and they played us tough and they played us tough once again. They've got some great players on their team and they played well as a team as well. But we withstood the run they had in the second half and we got the win.

"I think defense towards the end of the game was the key. We got key stops and we hit key shots and that's what I really think were keys. We had a lot of fast break points and got out in transition. They wanted to slow the ball down a little bit more and we just tried to get into our game which was fast breaking."
