Hey there! Remember me? If you're a regular reader of the blog, you might have noticed that I'm not posting a whole lot lately, given that it's a pretty massive diversion from what you've grown to expect from us. I wanted to take a couple of minutes this morning to let you in on what's been going on, and what to expect heading forward.
First of all, there are a few reasons why I've been posting less.
The most obvious is that there is just less to talk about. If you've followed this site for any length of time, you know that I like to write about what I can see, generally limiting the scope of my commentary to analyzing actual events. Honestly, there's just next to nothing going on right now, and it will likely stay that way until camp starts in August.
But that's not all of it. I remember somebody commenting a while ago that I'm a teacher and I should have all kinds of time on my hands to write now that I'm not working. Theoretically, that would be true, since I don't have to go to work.
But the reality is that I'm honestly just not at a computer nearly as much in the summertime. I spend my summer hanging out with my wife and kids and people we don't see that much during the school year because we're so busy, which means we're away from the house a whole lot. We also try to spend as much time outdoors in the sunshine as humanly possible, given that I spend the vast majority of the other 10 months either cooped up in a classroom or lamenting the rain. When it's as gorgeous outside as it's been in Seattle in June and July, we try to take advantage of it, rather than sitting inside hammering away at a computer. (Especially when it's like 89 degrees in my house.)
The last reason is the simplest of all: I just needed a little bit of a break. Since we launched this site last August, I've written more than 550 posts. That is not a typo. I probably should have communicated my need for some time off a little better, but I actually hadn't planned on taking as much of a break as I have. I figured I would just try to come up with one or two things a day to keep things rolling, but with all the previous factors I mentioned, prohibiting me from writing on many days, I found that the break was actually a bit refreshing.
So what can you expect going forward?
I can only speak for me, but it's probably still going to be a little sporadic until football camp fires up on August 9. Truly, my idea of fun is not sitting at a keyboard while it's 100 degrees outside. But between now and then, I'll be purposeful about getting any meaningful news up on the site for your discussion. And once camp gets going, we'll really ramp up our coverage as we head towards kickoff against Stanford on Sept. 5.
One last thing. Johnnycougar wrote a FanPost asking for CougCenter site requests. We'd still love to hear those, whether it's content (you know, things you want to see us write about) or widgets or whatever. You can post those over on that thread, or down below here if you like.
