WE ARE GOING TO THE ROSE BOWL

I just set my DVR for the Washington State-Arizona game to be televised on Versus next Saturday.

From the game description on my channel guide, something peculiar:

HD, Live, Arizona Wildcats at Washington State Cougars. Arizona is one of the Pac-10's top defenses, while the Cougars have one of the top offenses.

Well, that sure is an interesting way to describe this game.  They sure are being generous to our offense.  Of course, "one of" is a pretty vague term.  In a group of only ten, "one of" could mean the top half!  I'll give you that Versus.

But then I continued to read on.

Last year, LB Chester Burnett's 13 tackles helped Arizona beat WSU 34-26.  Cougars QB Ryan Leaf threw for 348 yards in that loss.

Wait? What?!? Ryan Leaf! Versus thinks it is 1997!  Shhhh...no one tell them.

Things that did not exist in 1997 Things that may have sort of existed in 1997, but were not yet relevant:

1. Hair on my chest

2. High Definition television

3. DVR

4. Versus

Awesome things that happened in 1997:

1. My girlfriend at the time sent her friend (my current girlfriend) to break up with me outside the cafeteria on the first day of school in 7th grade, paving the way for one of the greatest love stories in the history of mankind.

2. This movie was released.

3. MMMBOP

4. The Washington State Cougars won the Pac-10 Championship and earned a berth in the Rose Bowl.

PARTY LIKES IT'S 1997.  PACK YOUR BAGS FOR PASADENA BECAUSE THE COUGS ARE GOING TO THE ROSE BOWL.
