DeAngelo Casto Suspended Indefinitely, Will Miss Wednesday's NIT Game

Washington State head coach Ken Bone announced forward DeAngelo Casto has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules and will miss Wednesday NIT game. No specifics for the suspension were given, but something happened between last night and this morning that forced Bone to take action, suspending Casto for at least tomorrow, if not longer, should the Cougs advance.

The news came from 710ESPN on Twitter.

WSU HC Ken Bone announced DeAngelo Casto has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules & will miss tomorrow's NIT game

And here we are again. Immediately following something good -- perhaps the most complete game this team has played -- a player screws up and brings us right back down to Earth. Against Northwestern, Washington State's chances go down significantly without Casto, not to mention the long-term repercussions.

For Casto, last night may have been his last game in a Cougar uniform. He was already contemplating not returning, according to Bone himself, and has been worried about taking care of his family. We don't know exactly what the violation of team rules is, but this doesn't bode well for either the present or future.

I can't even tell you how incredibly frustrating it is to follow and report on this team. The highs and lows are almost too much, and it's maddening to figure them out. After every shining moment there's a head-shaking, gut-punching moment that leaves us all reeling. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Vent away.

UPDATE: Here's what I couldn't say. It's drugs. Vince reported it so it's out in the open.

A source with knowledge of the situation said Casto's off-campus apartment was searched by police at about 1:20 Tuesday morning and a small amount of marijuana was allegedly found.
