Brandon Rankin Eligible After NCAA Approves Waiver

As you may have known, Brandon Rankin has been battling to become eligible, with WSU petitioning the NCAA for a waiver that would allow him to play. Rankin was expected to be a major contributor in the Cougars' defensive line rotation, and the news that he was not yet eligible had many wringing their hands. But there's good news today that should, hopefully, get the season off on the right foot.

According to Vince Grippi, Rankin will be eligible and can play this season.

NCAA has approved WSU's waiver application, meaning defensive tackle Brandon Rankin is eligible to play this season. More later.

Grippi had alluded to extenuating circumstances that could make Rankin eligible for a waiver, allowing him to rejoin the team in an official capacity. He had still been around practice and working with the team, but was left in limbo. Luckily for us, and for the Cougars, he's good to go.
