Mike Leach Hires Jason Loscalzo As Strength Coach, According To Reports

Remember that strength coach thing last week? That was fun, wasn't it? If you missed it, Kansas State strength and conditioning coach Chris Dawson had an agreement to take the same job at Washington State. He met with the team, was in Pullman for a couple days and even showed up in the staff directory*. And then, all of a sudden, he was back at Kansas State, having received a counter-offer from Bill Snyder.

*His name is still in the staff directory. These things don't happen on accident.

A good time was had by all, except those of us who had been following the story. However, we may finally have some kind of resolution to the strength coach issue. According to Coaching Search, Mike Leach has hired Boston College strength coach Jason Loscalzo.

Washington State: I have just learned that Boston College head strength coach Jason Loscalzo has accepted the head strength job at Washington State.

We've played this game before and are wary, as always, but it appears this is a done deal. With workouts already having started on Tuesday -- David Lang was running them, as far as I'd heard -- the need for a permanent strength coach was a big one.

Loscalzo hails from California and was a fullback for Humbolt State before transitioning into the strength game. Before joining the Boston College staff, he worked as the assistant strength coach at Auburn, also working with the baseball and softball teams. He's been at Boston College as the head strength coach for three years.

Assuming this one works out, the staff should be complete for real this time, and the work in the weight room will continue to ramp up over the next two months.
