HOT COUGAR ACTION: Robert Lewis Commits To WSU, Again.

It's been quite a recruiting journey for Robert Lewis, but it appears to have finally come to an end. Lewis is officially headed to Washington State after selecting WSU at a ceremony Friday night. Earlier this week, Lewis said he would be making the announcement during halftime of his high school's basketball game. Shortly after, this tweet came from Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times.

With his earlier commitment to WSU, Lewis already received a Rancourt report which you can read here. While nothing is official until signing day, it appears Lewis' recruitment is over, ending a busy month of January. Below you can see just how Lewis got to this point.

  • Feb. 25, 2011 - Verbally commits to SMU.
  • Dec. 17, 2011 - Questions his SMU commitment for the first time after Adriam Klemm left SMU for UCLA and June Jones almost left for ASU.
  • Jan. 13, 2012 - Lewis takes his official visit to WSU.
  • Jan. 14, 2012 - Officially decommits from SMU.
  • Jan. 19, 2012 - Verbally commits to WSU
  • Jan. 21, 2012 - Reports surface that Lewis' offer from WSU may be a grayshirt and he is still weighting his options.
  • Jan 28, 2012 - Announces he will be signing with WSU at an event at his high school.

PULLMAN — Keidane (KEY-Dawn-EE) McAlpine was named the Washington State University head soccer coach, athletic director Bill Moos announced today. McAlpine becomes the fifth coach in program history after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach at Auburn. With the Tigers, he was part of a staff that guided Auburn to six-straight NCAA postseason appearances.

Pac-12 recruiting update (Jan. 27, 2012)

Across the Evergreen State comes the Pirate, Mike Leach, the new head man at Washington State, and he's already pillaged SMU for four commits. The former Texas Tech head coach has made life miserable for many a Lone Star State coach before, but taking four SMU verbals, all from California, shows he's not quite done dealing with Craig James, or in this case, his alma mater.
