Hot Cougar Action: Monday morning trivia

New, 41 comments

Another Monday, another day with Monday morning trivia.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

The Monday trivia questions tend to focus on offensive stats, so now seems like a good time to mix it up and take a closer look at the defensive side.

With only two games remaining in his Cougar career, it's about time Travis Long made a MMTQ appearance. Long now has 9.5 sacks on the season, just the ninth Cougar to rack up 9.5 or more in a season since 1979. Long currently leads WSU in sacks and has either tied for the lead or lead the team the last three seasons as well. These facts bring us to today's two questions.

Q1: Name the eight other players since 1979 who had at least 9.5 sacks in a season.

Q2: No player since 1979 has led WSU in sacks four straight seasons. Not including Long, two players have led in three straight seasons, name them.

Located at the center of the Washington State University campus is the WSU Veterans Memorial. On the memorial are engraved the names of Washington State students, faculty, and staff who served their country in violent conflicts that took place far from the peace and tranquility of the Palouse. Each name represents a life sacrificed either in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War or the Global War on Terrorism.
