Bone touched on a number of topics including, DaVonte Lacy's health, Brock Motum's play and the Cougars first matchup against Oregon State. Apparently, it's not a good idea to test Mike Leach, the new WSU football coach. Late Tuesday morning, the Cougars announced that sophomore linebacker C.J. Mizell "will not be retained" on the WSU squad after an eventful couple of seasons.

Washington State's Mike Leach: B. Since Rivals began keeping track in 2002, Washington State has landed a top 50 recruiting class just once (No. 24 in 2004). It's no small feat, then, that Leach signed 12 three- and four-star prospects following his Nov. 30 introduction. He even convinced wide receiver Gabriel Marks, Rivals' No. 87 recruit in 2012, to come to Pullman. Consider the 6-foot, 175-pounder the first piece of a budding Pac-12 offensive power.

COUGARS HIT THE ROAD TO FACE OREGON SCHOOLS: Looking to bounce back after a close loss to UCLA at home, the Washington State University men's basketball team (12-11, 4-7) travels to Oregon to face the Oregon State Beavers (15-8, 5-6) at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. Following the game Thursday, the Cougars will travel to Eugene to play the Oregon Ducks (16-7, 7-4) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Matthew Knight Arena.
