Even a day later, the stats from yesterday are still just as ugly. If you remove Brock Motum, the two teams combined to shoot 29 percent overall and just 22 percent on 3-point attempts. Of the eight Cougars to play besides Motum, just two finished with more points than rebounds.
WSU remained in a shooting funk for the third straight game. During that time, the Cougars are 5-for-39 on 3-point attempts and 33-for-64 on free throw attempts. Maybe they are just wearing down near the end of the season, maybe it is just bad luck, but that is about as cold a shooting stretch as you will see. It's even worse when you consider WSU is not a bad 3-point or free throw shooting team. They have ranked in the top half of the Pac-12 in both categories all season, but lately, for whatever reason they are ice cold.
Washington State now moves onto the Pac-12 tournament where they will face Oregon State. WSU will look to pull off the rare feat of beating a team not once, not twice, but thrice. The game will take place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday which should lead to outstanding TV ratings. If WSU is able to pull of the 3-0 season sweep, they would play either California or Washington at 12 p.m. on Thursday. Here's the full Pac-12 tournament bracket.
