Day one of the Pac-12 Tournament produced two different results for the Washington State men's and women's basketball teams.

Against Oregon State, the men's team fell behind by 16 points in the first eight minutes before storming back to take a one-point halftime lead. They held a two-point lead with four minutes to play, but were unable to hold on as OSU outscored the Cougars 11-4 the rest of the way. Brock Motum scored 13 points in the second half on his way to a team-high 18 points. While Motum carried the Cougars for much of the second half, Reggie Moore struggled going 0-for-11 from the floor after halftime. It was another frustrating loss in a season of frustrating losses where WSU played well enough to win, but couldn't close the game out.

The women also faced OSU, but unlike the men, they got off to a fast start jumping out to a 17-2 lead. OSU cut the lead to five at halftime and narrowed it to a single point with just under nine minutes remaining, but WSU extended it to seven with a 6-0 run, then held on to secure their first ever conference tournament victory. Sophomore Brandi Thomas led way with 17 points while Jazmine Perkins pulled down 10 rebounds. The Cougars will face third seeded USC tonight at 7:15 p.m.
