HOT COUGAR ACTION: Mike Leach Talks Media Day, Jeff Tuel And More

It's been a little while since we last heard Mike Leach on the radio, but thankfully for those of you starting to have withdrawls, Leach joined David Nuno on Yahoo! Sports Radio Friday.

The interview starts with Leach discussing the recent Pac-12 Media Day, including what he thought of being called Mike Price. He also gave his thoughts on being asked odd questions saying, "I'll answer pretty much any question."

The conversation shifts to football with Leach discussing Jeff Tuel's best qualities, how hard is it to learn the Air Raid offense and what to expect from Marquess Wilson. Leach held off on giving Wilson too much praise during Spring football, but he gushed over Wilson in the interview.

""I think as good as he is, he has a lot of upside. I think he's going to get better and better. He's really explosive, he's got a lot of range, he comes out of his cuts very quickly. Likes to play the game, the other thing, kindof a tall angular guy, very curagious when he goes into traffic. I think he just does a lot of good things."

The interview shifts to Leach talking about his experience coaching defense and how it helped him as an offensive coach. Finally, it all wraps up with him talking generally about players getting into trouble.

The nine minute interview is worth a listen which you can do here.

That's not a bad call. But it's the team the Beavers are staring up at in the preseason poll -- Washington State -- that leaves me questioning if there is room for one more in that indecipherable vacuum of second-tier North teams.

Much curiosity surrounds the arrival of Leach, whose Texas Tech teams shattered passing records behind quarterbacks that routinely threw more than 50 times per game.
