The 2012-13 WSU men's basketball schedule likely isn't at the forefront of anyone's thoughts right now, but a big piece of next year's slate of games was announced Thursday. We already knew WSU was going to play in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic next season, but now we know they will play Kansas in the semifinal round.
The game will be played on November 19 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The Cougars will then play either Texas A&M or Saint Louis the next day.
The CBE has a unique format where four host schools first play two games at home before moving to the semifinal and final rounds at a neutral site. It's still unknown who WSU will play at home, but Kansas is playing Southeast Missouri State and UT Chattanooga so I'd expect similar opponents in Pullman.
The matchup with Kansas should be an interesting one. It will be the second meeting between the Cougars and Jayhawks. Kansas won the previous meeting 66-51 in 1973. The game will also give Royce Woolridge a chance to play against his former team. Woolridge transferred to WSU prior to last season after playing one season for the Jayhawks.
