The Washington State Cougars visit the Stanford Cardinal as both teams look for their first Pac-12 win on Wednesday night. The game is at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal are coming off a winless road trip at the Los Angeles schools.
WSU clawed back from an early 17-point lead against rival Washington, but couldn't hold a four-point lead of their own down the stretch and eventually dropped their conference opener at home. UW kept Brock Motum in check for the most part in the game, denying him the ball at all costs. Stanford features a better defense overall, and could make things even harder for the Cougars offense on Wednesday.
As I said in my preview (linked above), this figures to be a low-scoring, defensive battle. I wouldn't be surprised to see both teams well below one point per possession as each squad is adept in preventing points, but not so great in scoring them.
