Twas the Hot Cougar Action posted on Christmas and all through the Palouse,

Not a creature was stirring, not even Bill Moos.

The helmets are hung in the closet with care,

In hopes that spring football would soon be there.

The fans were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of a 2014 national championship danced in their heads.

Butch in his jersey and in his cap,

Has just settled down for a long offseason nap.

It was tough to sleep at times as the nightmares came,

All anyone could do was think how their team played so lame.

They remembered the game against Colorado State,

Some were so mad, they threw out Santa's milk and cookies, along with the plate.

After leaving New Mexico people felt disappointment, anger and fright.

Cougs boarded their planes and drank all the booze on the flight.

Fans wiped the game from their minds, they were ready to move on.

I, for one, settled into a movie marathon.

It was time to forget football and enjoy Christmas.

Friends, family, food and, for some, a trip to their favorite isthmus.

It is the most wonderful time of the year,

So just settle in and enjoy it with some cookies and a nice beer.

Most of the season was blast.

Simply remember the wins, the records and the passing yards that were amassed.

Forget the heartbreak that was,

And start looking forward to the next season's buzz.

Cougars’ debacle tops woeful weekend | Walla Walla Union-Bulletin
WALLA WALLA — By the time I tuned in to the New Mexico Bowl late Saturday afternoon, the game was already in the fourth quarter and I was already in a bad mood.

It went as well as could be expected - SportsLink - Spokesman.com - Dec. 24, 2013
A GRIP ON SPORTS Did anyone really think the Falcons were going to score in the fourth quarter and upset the 49ers? Me neither. Not on the final day of a football weekend from hell. Read on.

Kevin Gemmell Pac-12 football Mailbag: Christmas Eve edition - ESPN
T’was the night before Christmas and the Pac-12 blog crew; Was still smarting and miffed at the fall of Wazzu. Dressed in an opulent red and green sweater; Ted furiously hoped that the Beavs would do better.

Have a tremendous Christmas everyone and, as always, Go Cougs.
