New Mexico Bowl 2013: WSU may be offering charter flight for fans

Travel to Albuquerque may be tough, but WSU is looking out for you.

Martin Hunter

The Washington State Cougars will be taking their first trip to a bowl game in 10 years when they take the field against the Colorado State Rams for the New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 21 in Albuquerque. While the news is exciting, the bowl's location and date (just 13 days after announcement) makes it one of the more difficult destinations for WSU fans.

But the university may offering another option: A charter flight out of the Pacific Northwest for Coug fans. To gauge interest, WSU would like those interested to take a short, five-question survey to let the school know the when and where.

Click the link here to take the survey.

This seems like a neat idea, especially considering the prices for the PNW to Albuquerque. A quick glance at Priceline showed the cheapest round-trip flight (at the time I wrote this) from Seattle to Albuquerque for Dec. 20 to Dec. 22 at $707. A quick glance at charter airline quotes says the low range for a charter flight like this would cost around $85,000 with the high range around $150,000 in an airline-type plane that may carry "as few as 25 or as much as 500."

So, let the school know if this something you are up for!
