Gerard Wicks, a running back who's a consensus 3-star recruit and rated as the No. 75 running back by 247 faxed in his letter of intent to Washington State on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day 2013.
Wicks signed with the Cougars despite offers from Boise State, Colorado State and San Diego State. He played high school football at Long Beach Poly High School, one of the top high school football programs in California. Wicks didn't waste any time making a decision as he committed to Washington State during the summer. While he stayed a solid verbal to the Cougars, there were reports that he was planning to visit Washington in January. Wicks ultimately decided not to visit the Huskies and stick with WSU.
Wicks, who is rated as a 3-star prospect and the No. 57 running back in the class of 2013 by Scout, will join a crowded backfield in Pullman. In addition to Wicks, the Cougars signed two other running backs as part of the 2013 recruiting class. Washington State already has a few running backs on the roster, so Wicks will have to earn any playing time he receives.
