The Washington State baseball team lost two of three games at Utah over the weekend, but the one they won was thanks to a dominant performance from Scott Simon. That performance led to Simon being named Pac-12 pitcher of the week on Monday.
Simon pitched a complete game shutout on Sunday while striking out a career-high seven. Watching Felix Hernandez every fifth day has spoiled most of us, so a shutout may not seem overly impressive. Things are a little different in the college game, however, as that was the first time a WSU pitcher tossed a complete game shutout since 1999.
