Hot Cougar Action: Logan Mayes arrested

WSU continues to make a strong push for the Fulmer Cup. I don't think this is what Russell Wilson means when he talks about championship offseasons.

WSU Athletic Communications

If you weren't checking CougCenter late Saturday night, you may have missed the news that linebacker Logan Mayes was arrested on Thursday for a hit and run.

As Brian noted, Mayes' arrest is the third incident involving a WSU football player in the last month. Teondray Caldwell is facing assault and burglary charges while Toni Pole was cited for giving police false information. WSU is yet to comment on the situation with Mayes, but I would expect they would say the same thing they did on the other two -- they are aware of the situation and will handle it internally.

These incidents come after the fight which left Mansel Simmons in the hospital and forced him to retire due to a head injury. You could say it hasn't been the best offseason thus far.

Could Mike Leach be returning to a Big 12 stadium? | Big 12 Sports | a mySA.com blog
It appears that Washington State and its colorful coach Mike Leach might be close to signing a home-and-home scheduling deal with a Big 12 team. Fittingly, it would bring the former Texas Tech coach back against TCU, a team that caused him some problems while he was with the Red Raiders.

Baseball:

Offense was again a problem for WSU as it lost to Washington 3-1 on Saturday.
