HCA: Where do WSU quarterbacks rank in the Pac-12?

With a senior Jeff Tuel, WSU ranked well in the quarterback rankings heading into last season. Some ranked WSU as high as third in the Pac-12 prior to the season. That isn't the case this year as Connor Halliday's 2012 struggles created plenty of uncertainty.

House of Sparky ranked the conference's quarterback and WSU checked in at No. 8.

With the graduation of Jeff Tuel, the Washington State quarterback job appears to rest squarely on the shoulders of junior Connor Halliday. Fortunately for coach Mike Leach, Halliday saw plenty of action last season and displayed enough potential to warrant the starting job.

Halliday threw for 208.7 yards per game, and also threw for 15 touchdowns. His 13 interceptions were likely the result of growing pains, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to owning the starting role this season. As of now, redshirt freshman Austin Apodaca is listed as the only other quarterback on the Cougars' roster.

That seems about right to me as it would hard to make an argument for WSU to be much higher, while the teams below seem to have bigger issues.

It seems like the Cougars return a ton of starters every year but they fall by the wayside due to regression, injury or off-the-field stuff, but if they are truly headed in the right direction under Mike Leach then they should see some improvement with this kind of experience coming back.
