Having enjoyed their vacation to beautiful Lewiston, and their relaxing Monday off from practice in Pullman, the WSU football team took the Rogers Field turf for the first time this camp. Let's get to some quick notes:
Quick Notes:
- Connor Halliday took all of the first team snaps during Sunday's scrimmage, but Coach Leach decided to take a closer look at Austin Apodaca and Tyler Bruggman and gave them most of the reps in the 1-on-1 drills. Don't fret Halli-holics, Leach said during his interview that Halliday would still start, if the season started today.
- Damante Horton had to be helped off the field after landing awkwardly on his right leg. Later, Christian reported, that he was seen walking on his own with an ice pack applied.
- As Mark noted in his last practice report, Jeremiah Laufasa continues to impress. His name was all over the practice report on WSUCougars.com and Christian made special mention of his plays that inspired "ohhhs" and "ahhhs" from his teammates.
- The Cougars return to the field Wednesday at 3 to continue their march to August 31st
Quote of the day:
Austin Apodaca on the challenges of the Leach offense, via Christian Caple's practice report:
"In one particular play there could be five to six reads and to get through all of those in the beginning is challenging. Once you get reps and you watch a lot of video, watch lots and lots of film, you start getting more comfortable as you go on. This spring I’ve been getting in the film room a lot more and getting confidence in myself. And it helps just getting reps on the field. If you’re sitting out not getting any reps, you’re not going to get very comfortable with it."

It would be a blow to SEC pride if Auburn lost to Washington State because the Cougars are just a team in a lesser league, failing to deliver a winning season since 2006. Mike Leach, the WSU coach, could parlay a win in this game into a better job.
