Vince Mayle came to WSU as a raw wide receiver with major upside. Heading into his final game as a Cougar, he's a more refined product still with major upside. Mayle has rewritten the WSU record book this season, topping 100 receptions and 1,400 yards with a game to play. His strong season hasn't gone unnoticed and on Monday, Mayle accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.
The Senior Bowl is a major showcase for many of the top NFL Draft prospects. Deone Bucannon impressed in the event last season and wound up being selected in the first round. Mayle may not play his way all the way up to the first round, but he is turning heads. Bucky Brooks of NFL.com listed Mayle as one of his players with rising stock and said scouts have taken notice:
The best-kept secret on the West Coast has been squarely on the radar of scouts since the beginning of the season. Evaluators are fascinated by the long-term potential of the 6-3, 219-pound senior.
Maybe he'll become less of a secret after another big game in the Apple Cup.
