A big recruiting weekend on the Palouse netted three more commits for the 2015 class, all junior college defenders. Following their teammate Treshon Broughton's lead from yesterday, three-star defensive end DeVante Wilson, three-star inside linebacker Jonah Moi and two-star defensive end Jeremiah Mitchell have all given their verbals to Washington State. Their commitment was first reported by WazzuWatch's Britton Ransford.
WSU had plenty of competition for their services as well. Wilson had reportedly narrowed his choices down to Washington State, Cal and ASU, while Moi had previously committed to Hawaii and held an offer from BYU. Although Mitchell is the least heralded rankings wise of the three, his offer list is probably the most impressive, including ASU, Oregon, Iowa State, Marshall and Purdue according to Rivals.
Moi was second on his Riverside Tigers team in tackles this year with 82, including 10.5 tackles for a loss. Mitchel had 43 tackles, an astonishing 13.5 of which went for a loss including six sacks. Wilson finished with 36 tackles and a full third of them were in the backfield.
The pleading from many Coug fans has been for help with defense for next season and it seems like the coaches have heard it. Broughton should help in the defensive backfield right away and these three defenders should be able to do the same. Hudl highlights for all three are below.
