WSU football recruiting: Brandon Evers faxes in his letter of intent

Evers size coming out of high school is certainly appealing although he seems destined for a redshirt.

The depth continues to build for an improving unit as Washington State received the letter of intent it was waiting for from Redlands, Calif., offensive lineman Brandon Evers.

The consensus 2-star recruit from Enterprise High School certainly seems like the prototypical Mike Leach offensive line recruit, checking in at 6'7", 290 pounds out of his high school in the Inland Empire. Evers had just one other scholarship offer, coming from San Diego State. He was reportedly interested in Oregon, Washington, Stanford and Harvard as well.

Evers played both ways in high school but is being recruiting to do the blocking instead of trying to shed them. With the depth along the offensive line is pretty decent shape going into next season, except Evers to redshirt. The year off the field isn't necessarily for putting on weight (although at 6'7" he could probably handle another 10-20 pounds) but to continue to develop his skills with coaches who patched together a pretty good line this year.
