Earlier today, President Elson Floyd told the board of regents at their monthly meeting that Bill Moos had offered the men's basketball head coaching job to someone, he just wouldn't say who. It looks like it may have been one of our top candidates all along. According to a report from the Spokesman-review's Jacob Thorpe, Boise State head coach Leon Rice interviewed for the job earlier this week.
In a subsequent tweet, Thorpe couldn't confirm if Rice was the coach Floyd was referring to earlier today but it seems unlikely Floyd would be talking about anyone else. We'd long worried about Rice's preference for BSU's facilities given earlier reports but Thorpe puts that to bed:
Early reports indicated that Rice had concerns about WSU’s basketball facilities. The Spokesman-Review has learned that that these reports were false.
Then there's this from B.J. Rains who covers BSU for the Idaho-Statesman:
I've also confirmed that Rice was away from campus on Wednesday, which would be in line with report that he interviewed earlier this week.

Thorpe's report also confirms that and both reports mesh with this private flight tracker from Boise to Pullman yesterday. Per that website, the plane hasn't left Pullman yet either so it's reasonable to assume Rice is still in town.
So it looks like this is Rice's job to turn down. You'll recall last week we rated him as one of our favorites to replace Bone after his last four seasons in Boise. He has been thought of as a favorite all along and it looks as if he'll be the man who has the tough task of turning this team around.
