Deone Bucannon off to the NFL

Deone Bucannon was pegged by most as a Day 2 prospect in the NFL Draft, but he didn't have to wait until Friday after all and was instead selected with the No. 27 pick in the first round by Arizona on Thursday. The NFL Draft is the biggest non-event, event in professional sports, so as you can imagine there was a lot of reaction.

My take: The Arizona Cardinals addressed an immediate need on defense by drafting a safety. With his height and length, Bucannon can help defend tight ends and tall receivers, which gave the Cardinals’ defense fits last season.
